Recycle Center - Material Recovery Facility (MRF)

The City of Fayetteville operates a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), located at 1560 S. Happy Hollow Road. This facility is designed to process the recyclable material we collect.  It is the first step in the process of incorporating materials back into the manufacturing stream so the value of these materials can be recovered and resources saved. A baler utilizing an in-ground pit conveyor allows materials to be baled in 3 x 4 x 5 foot bales ready for recycling markets.

In 2012, the City sold 5,190 tons of recyclables (including scrap metal), keeping valuable recyclable materials from the landfill and helping to conserve our natural resources.

We are happy to show you around our MRF! Groups of all ages are welcome to come learn what happens to Fayetteville's trash and recycling.  Tours of the MRF must be scheduled in advance, by calling (479) 575-8398. The MRF is open 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
