Ward Bulky Waste Clean-Ups

The Recycling and Trash Collection Division sponsors eight (8) Bulky Waste Ward Clean-Ups for the disposal and/or recycling of large bulky items each Spring and Fall.  See a video about the clean-ups by clicking here.  These clean-ups are for Fayetteville residents only, and a recent copy of a water bill is required to verify residency.

All clean-ups will occur on a Saturday and will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 2 pm.  Dates and locations are coordinated with the City Council members and posted approximately one month before the clean-ups begin.

Items allowed:  
Couches, chairs, mattresses, large appliances; such as, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, carpet, padding, vinyl flooring, drywall, paneling (Limited amounts only, no contractors allowed), lawn mowers, hot water heaters,  plumbing fixtures. 

Items not allowed:   
Household Hazardous Wastes; such as, paint, thinners, solvents, batteries, cleaning chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, automotive fluids, etc., household garbage, commercial garbage, medical waste, dirt, rocks, brush, leaves and grass, tires.

Limit one (1) Freon-bearing appliance accepted for free per household.  Additional Freon-bearing appliances are $20 each to cover Freon removal.

Electronic waste (e-waste) is no longer accepted at these clean-ups. 

How to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste:

Washington County operates a Household Hazardous Waste Collection center and a tire trailer.  They also accept e-waste for a fee.  Fayetteville residents are eligible for a coupon to waive the fee.  Please call 718-7685 to find out how to get a coupon.

Hours: Mon.-Fri. from 8:00am to 4:00pm and the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 am until noon.
