The City of Fayetteville is focused on becoming a sustainabile community that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

As a department within the city government, Sustainability & Strategic Planning is focused on a triple-bottom line approach (economic, environmental, and social) to policy development and project management.  This includes working with City divisions and deparments on policy and master plans, partnering with community organizations on grant applications, and managing projects such as the City's Community Revolving Loan fund which targets non-profit facilities for energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements.  The Department also serves as a liasion to local, state and national organizations on climate protection, green building and energy issues.
