Fayetteville 6th in Smarter Cities Project
Fayetteville ranked 6th out of 650 cities
The Natural Resources Defense Council has released a year-long study on over 650 cities in the United States ranking the city of Fayetteville sixth in the Small Cities category (population 50,000 - 99,000) for sustainable development.
The Smarter Cities mission is to foster a little friendly competition between local governments as well as provide a forum for exploring the progress American cities are making in environmental stewardship and sustainable growth.
Fayetteville ranked particularly high in the areas of green space, water quality, and environmental standards and participation; buoyed by strong public support in the development of City Plan 2025, the Alternative Transportation and Trails Master Plan, and Fayetteville Forward.
