City-Wide Traffic and Transportation Study

High levels of traffic moving through neighborhood areas are an issue of concern to citizens in Fayetteville. This policy addresses a procedure through which neighborhoods can be considered for specific traffic management measures known as "traffic calming." Cut-through traffic and excessive speeding can be mitigated through the use of various roadway design features when they are warranted and properly designed. The City's new traffic calming policy provides guidelines for requests for traffic calming consideration, documentation requirements, identification and approval of potential strategies, programming and design of traffic calming improvements, evaluation of traffic calming projects, and procedures for removal if later deemed appropriate.
