The Fayetteville Historic District Commission will celebrate National Historic Preservation month at White Hangar on Thursday, May 8 at 5:15 p.m. Mayor Dan Coody will open the event with a proclamation recognizing Preservation month and the recent historic preservation efforts that have resulted in the designation of Drake Field White Hangar as Fayetteville’s first local ordinance district. This Place Matters is the theme of the month-long celebration, which is sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Gulley Park Concert Series Schedule

This event has grown into one of the most anticipated summer events in all of Northwest Arkansas. Even though the concert series budget was cut in half for 2008, the generosity of members of the NWA community has made it possible to still bring you an entire summer of wonderful FREE entertainment. Walker Park Neighborhood Proposed Zoning for Review

The proposed rezoning for the Walker Park Neighborhood will be on display in the Planning office from April 14 to April 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The rezoning proposal was developed during a charrette held in the fall of 2007 and will be heard by the Planning Commission on April 28, 2008. The display will allow property owners and stakeholders to ask questions and give informal comments to planners before the first public hearing.

Celebration of Trees

On April 5, the City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation and the Tree and Landscape Advisory Committee will host their annual Arbor Day Celebration of Trees. Tree distribution will begin at 7:00am in front of the Fayetteville Town Center on the Downtown Fayetteville Square. More than 1,200 trees and shrubs will be given away in coordination with the opening day of the Farmer's Market.

Mayor Dan Coody will hold a press conference on Thursday March 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM at City Hall to announce the City’s partnership with the Dickson Street Music Festival and Springfest to promote environmental stewardship and encourage groups involved with the event to reduce, reuse, and/or recycle waste produced by the festival. The City will be providing recycling stations for the event.

Fayetteville Set to Web Stream City Meetings

Fayetteville, AR - The City of Fayetteville will start live web streaming of many City meetings beginning tonight with the City Council meeting at 6:00 PM. Citizens can access the on-line video by visiting our site and clicking on the City Meetings: On-Line Video link on the left side of the home page. During a live video stream of the City Council meeting, the web site offers citizens the ability to view documents associated with the agenda items while viewing the meeting. When viewing archived items, the system offers a number of conveniences including the ability to watch an entire meeting or simply jump to the agenda item of their choice rather than viewing the full video.

Christmas Trees to be collected through January 17th, 2008

The City of Fayetteville’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division wants to remind residents that Christmas trees are very recyclable with the City Composting program. Christmas trees will be collected until January 17^th when placed curbside for the yardwaste route on the same day as the normal trash and recycling collection. Please allow ample space around the trash cart and recycling bin for collection of those containers.

Walker Park Neighborhood Charrette Kicks Off September 21

The public participation process for the Walker Park Neighborhood Master Plan kicks off on Friday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the Walker Park pavilion with an ice cream social and historic tribute to the neighborhood. The charrette includes a week of events that are designed to allow all stakeholders to provide input that City staff will use to craft a vision and master plan document.

4th Annual Wilson Park Art Walk

Fayetteville Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Artists of Northwest Arkansas to host the 4th Annual Wilson Park Artwalk Saturday September 15, 2007 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This event features 50 of the area’s top artists who will set up exhibits along the trail at Wilson Park, allowing for citizens and spectators to see numerous paintings and a variety of other types of art work. Pieces will be for sale to the public with a portion of the proceeds benefiting public art projects in Fayetteville’s Parks.
